Before Beginning

In order to connect to the Internet, you need an account with Global PCNet, your Internet provider. In addition you need to count on the following information.

- User name. Global PCNet login
- Password. Password assigned on Global PCNet
- Telephone number. local access 764-1616
- Host. Global PCNet login
- Domain Name. globalpc.net
- DNS. Server IP address 207.193.205.1

How to form Dial-up Networking?

Before configuring your connection to the Internet, make sure that Dial-Up Networking is installed. In order to do this click on the Start button, point at Programs, it points at Accessories, and verify that the folder called Dial-Up Networking exists.

If you have Dial-Up Networking, continue with the section " Como Instalar el Protocolo TCP/IP ".
If you do not have Dial-Up Networking, add Dial-Up Networking by following the steps: 

  1. On the Control Panel, double-click on the icon Add/Remove Programs.

  2. On the section of Windows Setup, click on Communications (do not click on the verification box), and then click on Details.

  3. Click on the verification box Dial-Up Networking to select it and then click on OK.

  4. On the section of Windows Setup, click on OK.

How to form the TCP/IP?

Once Dial-Up Networking is installed, follow the next steps to install protocol TCP/IP.

  1. In the Control Panel, double-click on the Network icon.

  2. In the Configuration section, click on Add, click on Protocol, click Add, click on Microsoft on the list of Manufacturers, click on TCP/IP in the list of Protocols, and then click on OK.

  3. If you wish to connect yourself to the Internet, you only need the following network components:

Client for Microsoft Networks
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP
To remove a component, click on the component, and then click on Remove

  1. Click on TCP/IP.

In order to use the resources of Internet, you must capture the direction of your DNS Server.
Click on the Properties button . When the window appears with different folders, click in Configuration. Click on enable. In the Host box, put in any name. In the Domain box key in globalpc.net. The address of  the DNS Server of Global PCNet is: 207.193.205.1
Click on the Add button
The secondary DNS address of Global PCNet is : 207.193.205.2
Click on the Add button
Then click on OK.

  1. It is necessary to restart the computer so that the protocol will come into effect.

How to form a new connection?

  • Click on the Start button, click on Programs, click on Accessories, and then click on Dial-Up Networking.

  • If this is the first time in which you use Dial-Up Networking, the window of Welcome to the Dial Up Networking appears. If the window does not appear, gives double-click in Make New Connection and follow the instructions to create a connection Dial-Up Networking. 

Note : When it asks the name of the connection, type in: "Global PCNet"

  • Once the connection has been created, an icon will appear in the Dial-Up Networking folder, in which you can give a double click to connect yourself to the Internet.

After creating the connection in Dial up Networking, you need to form the support that will manually allow you to connect to the PPP account.

  1. Use the button of the right to click on the icon created recently (Global PCNet), and later selects " Properties " of the menu that appears.

  2. Deactivate the option that says " Uses country code and area code " (that is to say, remove the checkmark from that option).

  3. In the General section, click on Server Type. 

  4. Select "PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet" from the list of Type Of Dial-Up Server, and then click on the verification box TCP/IP in the section Allowed Network Protocols to select it. By selecting TCP/IP you are permitted a fast connection after you dial to the Global PCNet telephone. The other options are not relevant to connecting to the Internet.

  5. Then click "OK" to everything.

How to connect to the Internet?

  • Click on the Start button, select Programs, select Accessories, and then click on Dial-Up Networking.

  • Double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon created in the previous section, called Global PCNet.

  • In the dialogue box Connect, type in your login and password, and then click on Connect.

  • If you have previously activated the section " Bring up terminal after dialing.", a terminal window appears in which you type in your login and password.

  • After typing in your login y password, type ppp and press Enter, then some rare symbols will appear, which is correct, then press F7 or click on Continue.

  • After the dialogue box Connected To appears, you will be connected to the Internet.
