6.  What's a Call Alert and how do I send and receive one?
A Call Alert is a Nextel Direct Connect feature that allows you to notify someone that you'd like to talk with them. It is less intrusive than immediately Direct Connecting the other person, where you could potentially disrupt the person during a meeting. Sending an alert allows the person to decide whether or not it's convenient to respond at that time.
For i1000, i2000, i500plus, i550plus, i700plus, i1000plus, and i2000plus phones:
Press the “Mode” key until you see Prvt Ready.
Press the option key under "Alert."
Select the person you want to alert by entering their Private ID (Direct Connect Number) or selecting their name from your stored list.
Press and hold the Direct Connect button until you see "Alert-Sent Successful" on the display. The alert plays intermittently until the recipient answers, queues, or clears it.
For i90c, i85s, i80s and i50sx phones:
Enter the Private ID (Direct Connect Number) of the person you would like to alert or select their name from the Phonebook if stored.
Press the option key under ALERT, and the Ready to Alert screen displays.
Press and hold the Direct Connect button until Alert Successful displays. The alert plays intermittently until the recipient answers, queues, or clears it.
When you receive a call alert, your phone will emit an intermittent chirp and will display the name (if stored) or Private ID (Direct Connect Number) of the caller. You can either answer, queue, or clear the call alert
To answer the call alert, press the Direct Connect button.
To queue the call alert, press the option key under QUEUE.
To clear the call alert, press the option key under CLEAR.
NOTE: Until you answer, queue or clear the call alert, you will not receive any additional Phone, Private or Group calls.

7. How can I use Direct Connect without having people around me hear what my caller is saying?
Depending on your phone model, you have several ways to hold more private conversations:
Choose to use your phone's earpiece or an optional audio earpiece rather than holding conversations over speakerphone.
Use your phone's VibraCall® feature (not available on all phone models) to be silently notified of incoming Direct Connect calls. To use this feature, click on your phone phone model below:
8. How can I immediately stop the ring alert for an incoming phone call when I'm currently engaged in a call?
If you subscribe to Nextel Voice Mail, you can transfer an incoming call directly to Voice Mail by pressing the option key under "End" on your i2000plus, i1000, i1000plus, i700plus, i550plus, or i500plus phone. For i90c, i85s, i80c and i50sx phones, press the End/Home key or press the option key under NO while your phone is ringing.
9. If I accidentally delete a message, how can I recover it?
You can recover deleted messages by pressing the "*" key, then the "3" key while you are still in the Voice Mail session during which you deleted the message(s). After you end the session, however, you can no longer recover deleted messages.
10. Can I retrieve my Voice Mail messages when outside my home market?
You can check messages when traveling outside your home market by dialing your own Nextel phone number. You will incur a long distance charge when dialing your number outside your home market.
